Nobody puts search on a feature request list. They ask for folders, or tags, or a better inbox. What they mean is that they cannot find the thing they know they wrote down.
The archive is the product
A post is worth writing once and reading many times. Six months after a decision is made, the only thing that survives is whether someone can find the post where it was made. If they cannot, the decision gets made again, slightly differently, by people who were not in the room.
Search the discussion, not just the title
Most of the value sits in the replies. The title says what the work is. The third comment says why the obvious approach did not work. We index both, and we weight recent activity over raw keyword count, because a thread someone touched last week is usually the one being looked for.
Results need context
A list of blue links is not an answer. Every result shows the project, the date, and who was involved, so the choice can be made from the results page instead of by opening six tabs.
Nothing to file
We deliberately did not add folders. Filing is work people skip when they are busy, which is exactly when the writing matters most. Post it in the project, and the archive takes care of itself.
